It’s kind of a quiet week for new movies with only one film that would be considered a major release; however, there are a couple of movies that have garnered some buzz because of one’s Oscar possibilities and the other’s first-time writer/director.  The trailers are below.

A famous but troubled singer meets a man that treats her like just another person in “Beyond the Lights.”

It’s been 20 years since Harry and Lloyd went on their last adventure so don’t you think it’s about time we checked in with them to see how they’re doing?  No?  Well they’re coming back anyway in “Dumb and Dumber To.”

The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart has written and directed his first movie.  It’s the story of the protests that broke out after the 2009 elections in Iran and a journalist who gets caught up in the fallout in “Rosewater.”

When does the desire to improve a talent become an obsession?  Apparently when that desire meets an intense teacher in “Whiplash.”
