Hello!  I go by the name Stan the Movie Man.  Obviously, that’s not my real name.  I was born Carl the Movie Man but I liked the rhyme better.  Since late 2006, I’ve been reviewing movies for WIMZ.com, the website for Knoxville’s Classic Rock, 103.5-FM, WIMZ.  It all started a few years prior to that when we had an in-house newsletter.  The editor of the newsletter was begging everyone for content so, on a lark, I decided to review a movie I had just seen, “Bruce Almighty.”  My co-workers seemed to enjoy the review and I decided to keep doing it.  When the newsletter ceased I assumed that was that.  Then, I was approached by WIMZ program director Big-R who asked if I’d like to start reviewing movies for the website with the added feature of my videotaped extemporaneous thoughts about the film to be posted with the written review.  To make things more interesting, I would wear a goofy hat, mask, wig or combination of items and not make mention of it during the taping.  I thought it was a bit odd but did it anyway.  The hats etc. became a sort of trademark and I’ve kept it up ever since.  Now, instead of weekly reviews, I’m only posting one review a month to WIMZ.com.  The reasons for this are lengthy and uninteresting; however, it was not my choice to go to one a month, so I decided to start this blog where I can post my reviews weekly along with movie news, trailers and whatever else I happen to think of.  I grade movies on a five star system, one being awful and five being great.  I’m not trained in film criticism but I do enjoy movies and am only passing along my opinion as to whether the film is entertaining with the understanding we all have the right to agree to disagree.  Your comments are welcome but rude, insulting, racist, sexist, homophobic and any other type of hurtful comment will be deleted.  Feel free to tell me I’m full of crap…just be nice about it.  I hope you enjoy my ruminations on movies and I look forward to hearing your thoughts as well.
